AROUND THE EDGE, 2026 Handbuilt ceramic sculpture
This sculpture explores what happens when we stop looking straight on. Its form folds inward and opens at the same time, revealing a hollow that can only be understood by moving around it. There is no single viewpoint, the work changes as the viewer changes position.
Made intuitively in ceramic, Around the Edge developed without a fixed plan. The form emerged gradually, shaped by response rather than intention, allowing curves and openings to guide its direction. The surface holds traces of this process: slow, tactile, and attentive.
Elsewhere I invites the viewer to look from a less familiar place — to circle, to peer through, and to reconsider where they stand. In doing so, the work suggests that perspective is never fixed, and that even a small shift in position can open up a new way of seeing.
