NOT FACING, 2026
Handbuilt ceramic sculpture
Not Facing resists a frontal encounter. Its opening is angled away, refusing a single fixed viewpoint and asking the viewer to reposition in order to understand the form.
Handbuilt intuitively in ceramic, the piece developed without a predetermined outcome. Through touch and response, the form gradually revealed itself, allowing imbalance and direction to guide its shape.
By encouraging movement around the object rather than confrontation from the front, Not Facing reflects on how perspective depends on position — and how meaning often emerges when we choose not to look straight on.
